the beckoning plague!

we are living in the state of fear today. there is fear all around us. the "tarkin doctrine" is emerging into our society. there are fear of crimes, fear of rights, fear of power, fear of social degradation, and even fear of individualism. strangely though, there was no fear of Allah. i must stress this is happening in our society, frail and fragile, afraid that a stress will break the thin loose threads that maintain the fabric of society. but this fear is justified. truly frail our society is, that a snip will break us apart. chaos is the fear of society right now. tension is everywhere, whether between ideology, race or religion. particularly religion. Islam is being fought in from many directions, by human rights, from within, from other religions. why is that? did we not do what has been done by our muslim leaders, particularly Prophet Muhammad SAW? Something wrong with our education? Our ustaz and ustazahs not doing their job properly? yes, a lot may be to blame, but stress is on education.

these days the education system is all about grades, nothing else. this effects the student in their understanding of the islamic education subject. they are pushed to read books, about how to do this and do that, know this know that, but I believe they lack the understanding of WHY this is done. Do they understand WHY there are things not allowed and prohibited in Islam? why its bad to consume pork, why dogs and pigs are filth, why alcoholic beverages is haram, why there is an aurah, why this why that? yes, i remember explicitly the questions that are asked in the paper, eg. explain reasons that (insert statement here)... yes, students need to go beyond that, ask themselves why, and there should be a dedicated guide to help, not some itchy-itchy ustaz or lion-faced ustazah to make the student hate the subject. everything done must be for a reason, and the reason must be valid and acceptable! we want a guide who we can respect!

talking about respect, it seems we're losing it day by day. there's no respect for the elderly, the teachers, our own parents. what is going on? is individualism rearing its ugly head too soon? is it just me or is the kid screaming to his/her dad/mom? ouch, our parents do not want their children to feel what they have felt - the misery and pauperness of life - is not such a good excuse to shower and pamper them. i see children with gadgets - ipods, 3g phones, ps2 - when i see myself at their same age clueless about playstation or even the walkman. in fact i remember that the only computer-related thing i know when i was 6 years old was the reader rabbit learning software i take in that computer class oh so far away, and the thin, flimsy diskettes you put in to play that platform games which title has lost itself in the back of your mind. we spoil them rotten! they won't be thankful if they have all these things without an effort to mind!

truly, times are changing. while i was reading that pagelet in the star talking about how thankful they are to be living in malaysia, i was wondering to myself, albeit feeling helpless myself, what can i do to help myself be grateful?

Mugen Gakkou: Entry 01-01a

Wow. I can't believe this will be my first time I'm writing in this journal. My name is Hitoya Kutsumi, and I just moved in to this town in the north. It was warm in my place; the sun was always up, and the wind blew gently across the plain where I used to live. Now that I'm starting my life in this college up in the cold regions, I don't know if I can survive.

Dark clouds were marching across the sky that day I brought my stuff into the boy's dorm. But, while outside was cold and chilly, inside was warm and welcoming. Orientation starts tomorrow. Maybe I'll find some old faces; mates that used to hang out with me after school. Maybe I'm putting my hopes up too high, I heard they were sent to other places; rumors even said that I'm the only one sent north! This is scary, I don't want to be left alone. I found out that I was staying in a nifty four-compartment room. There was nobody when I arrived, but there were bags and bags everywhere. I settled in mine and began to unpack.

Oh, by the way, I lost the need to wear glasses. I wore my dark-blue hair long now. My skin is slightly tanned, probably because I started getting active. I jog and played tennis during the holidays. It was fun. Maybe I'll join the tennis club soon. But I'm still addicted to the Internet and computers. But it's a start!

Tomorrow is the first day of orientation. But there's still tonight, so I'm going to go around the college and familiarize myself with this new (and cold!) surrounding. Mata!

wikipedia

everyone must have at least read an article from it. everyone of the internet community must have heard of it. some of the internet community must have contributed to it. what is it?

In the internet, there are many things unknown and needed to be explored by those who are brave or stupid enough to do so. the internet holds a gargantuan number of hidden repositories where information of all kinds, from the positive to negative, from aiding to killing, exists in a myriad of forms. because of this, one must be wise to know and differentiate from the good and the bad.

being such a person, to know that of which is bad from good, is one of the features one must have in order to be a wikipedian. a wikipedian, suffice to say, is one who contributes to the online and free encyclopedia known by all as wikipedia. its address is easily remembered as en.wikipedia.org for the english-speaking community. inside wikipedia.org is more than a million helpful (or helpless) articles that has been the stepping stone (or rather the whole source) of one in researching for a study.

being a wikipedian is a good and virtuous act. as wikipedia.org is always visited and traffic is high, articles should be concise, truthful and exact. this is because readers take these facts and began research from them, as can be seen in many students' assignment's reference. such an honour must be kept in dignity, and therefore wikipedia.org must always be safeguarded from vandals.

this is true to the fact that wikipedia.org is always a subject for vandals; be it morons, chaos-renderers and the like. their vandalism is uncalled for, and damaging. imagine reading through an article about housekeeping and finding a load of shit. no, seriously, there have been cases of people cutting the shit article and pasting it in other articles. surf in wikipedia and search for them should time allow!

as for that, wikipedia.org is a true starting ground for those who advocate truth and faith. register today as a member of the wikipedia.org community and contribute to the safeguarding of truthful articles. be bold and add anything of valuable knowledge you have, and don't forget that wikipedians stick together. have fun!
